Debra Messing and Susan Sarandon's epic feud could be the basis for the next season of Ryan Murphy's hit show. Things came to a head during the 2016 election. Sarandon, an ardent Bernie Sanders supporter, became a voice for the "Bernie-or-bust" crowd, drawing Messing's ire, who felt that President Trump was such a threat to democracy that anyone who wasn't for him needed to cast their ballot for Hillary Clinton. And now there's been a new volley in the war of words.
When Messing was being interviewed by Andy Cohen on his show Watch What Happens Live, she was asked whether she'd prefer to ride in an elevator with President Trump or Susan Sarandon. After a beat, she answers...
"I think Trump."
To which Cohen replies...
"Wow, I thought you were going to go the other way. But, you know what, maybe you could make some policy changes."
Messing joked back...
"Yes! I think that, you know, if I had a moment alone with him that maybe I could."
The feud was already hot in recent weeks thanks to these tweets from Messing after Sarandon called her 'not well informed' and 'Trumpian'...

People quickly went to their respective camps. There were those on team Sarandon...
Others supported Messing...
Many felt that, perhaps, a woman shouldn't get in an elevator alone with the President at all...
And many thought there were more important things to focus on than infighting:
The message is the same: Vote!
