If you haven't heard of Constance Wu, brace yourself. The actress and comedian is enjoying a major surge in popularity at the moment. Audiences love her in Fresh Off The Boat, they adored her work in Disney's A Wrinkle In Time, and they're nuts for her starring role in Crazy Rich Asians.
When Saturday Night Live posted a tweet asking fans who they'd like to see hosting, they got a wide range of responses. Some suggestions were unsurprising, like Harry Styles. Some were a little more off the beaten path, like the rally of Supernatural fans clamoring for Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki to host together. (Pin that, by the way, NBC. 'Cause that's amazing.) But, almost out of nowhere, a third name kept popping up.
People are really into the idea of Constance Wu hosting! It has the potential to be a history-making choice for the show. SNL has never had an Asian cast member, even though it's been on the air for more than 40 years. The show has had a shockingly small number of Asian hosts and it has been almost two decades since an Asian woman led the charge for the night.
