Liberals everywhere let out a collective gasp when it was announced on Wednesday that Justice Anthony Kennedy would be retiring next month. While the Reagan appointee hasn't necessarily been a liberal justice, he has largely been seen as a swing vote over his career, handing down decisions that have made both conservatives and liberals happy.
But his retirement means that President Donald Trump gets to appoint a decidedly right wing justice in Kennedy's seat, tilting the balance of the court in a conservative direction for at least a generation. People fear that issues such as marriage equality, abortion rights, corporate involvement in our democracy...
And Robert Mueller's case against the President may all be in jeopardy.
Since this announcement, attention has turned to another member of the court, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
Bader Ginsburg is one of the decidedly liberal justices on the bench, and she is eighty-five years old. She has made it clear that she has no intention of stepping down anytime soon, especially with Trump in office.
However, given her advanced age, naturally there are those who are worried about her health.
Well, on Wednesday, Julie Cohen, the director of the documentary about Ruth Bader Ginsburg entitled RBG, posted this photo on Twitter...
People fangirled over Ginsburg...
While others came up with ways to help keep her health on track...
The fate of democratic survival is on her shoulders... no big deal.
