A 19-year-old model has become an instant sensation after rocking her curves in a new ASOS catalogue. The magazine image shows Natalia Lorenzo wearing a red dress; her back rolls are exposed in the pic, and they haven't been photoshopped or edited out.
Lorenzo is Colombian, and now resides in London, where she is signed with DAS models. She has an active presence on Instagram with over 115,000 followers.
Her Instagram bio reads:
"I’m all about confidence, empowerment & body positivity."
Speaking to Metro UK recently, Lorenzo said of the photo that's making the rounds on the Internet:
"I think it’s great. I’m not ashamed of having back rolls, it’s actually really normal! I love that they weren’t photoshopped out – it just shows that even as a model I still have 'flaws' and things that make me human."
In her interview with Metro UK, Natalia admits that it was a long and difficult road to accepting her body. "I suffered from eating disorders, depression and anxiety growing up due to body image issues," she says. Her mother was the one who suggested she get into modeling, so she could learn to have confidence in her body.
Within weeks of modeling, she grew to love herself, and began booking campaigns quickly. "‘... I finally broke out of my shell and my face and my body is on a canvas at Art Basel this year. I couldn’t be any more proud of myself."
Lorenzo has made it her mission to help other who have difficulty embracing their bodies. So far, it seems like she's doing a great job. Other people are responding strongly to her efforts:
