Cambridge Analytica, the company founded by Steve Bannon and Robert Mercer, is shutting down and filing bankruptcy due to bad publicity after it came to light the company mined information from Facebook and used it to sway the election in favor of Donald Trump. Feels like a win for democracy, right? Wrong.
Turns out Cambridge Analytica is simply changing the sign on the door and continuing business as usual. Yes, they really do think we are that stupid.
The new name for Cambridge Analytica is Emerdata Limited and is housed in the same offices with many of the same executives. Namely, Mercer's daughters Jennifer and Rebekah Mercer are directors of Emerdata. Along with Johnson Chun Shun Ko, an executive from Frontier Services Group, which is chaired by Trump supporter Erik Prince. Erik Prince just happens to be the brother of Trump appointed, Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos. The favors come full circle.
It seems trump isn't draining the swamp, he's simply changing it out for still murky waters. Cambridge Analytica, working now as Emerdata Limited is describing the "new" company in a vague way as a "data processing, hosting and related activities" organization. Seems not much has changed around the water cooler.
