TV And Film Posters Replacing White Actors With Black Actors Are Popping Up

By Jonna Ivin-Patton

Young activists from London came together to form the group Legally Black and together they are taking on both the British and American film industries with a brilliant campaign. Replacing white actors with images of Black actors in the staring roles on movie and television posters is having a serious impact. Each poster is captioned with the phrase:

"If you're surprised, it means you don't see enough black people in major roles."

The group is using the posters to "combat the way black people are portrayed in the media."

Some of the posters the group recreated include, Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason, Dr. Who, and Titanic

the amazing @thejemmar up in brixton now🌹✨
