Images of China's new library have been flooding the internet. The library is located in the Binhai Cultural District in Tianjin. Book lovers around the world have been drooling over the futuristic building designed by Dutch architectural firm MVRDV.
Lovers of literature had finally found their nirvana:
There's just one tiny wrinkle in all that joy. The "books" are painted on the shelves for the visual impression.
Don't fret! The library does have real books in other, more traditional rooms. It currently houses over 200,000 books, and plans to expand to its capacity of over 1.2 million. The painted books are for decoration in the atrium and reading area.
