Stephen Colbert Turns His Response To Trump's 'Despicable' Puerto Rico Claims Into A Song 🔥

By Vanessa Nix Anthony

Stephen Colbert's response to President Donald Trump's recent comments, regarding Hurricane Florence, took the form of a song—one that certainly will not be featured at the next White House luncheon.

The Late Show host eased into the bit, on Tuesday, playing a clip, from a briefing on Hurricane Florence, of Trump discussing the government's plan for handling the impending storm. Colbert said Trump, "showed off his grasp of the details."

Trump's "grasp" included the statement:

It's tremendously big and tremendously wet.

To which Colbert added:

. . . which also describes the bed he ordered in Moscow.

Colbert then showed a clip of Trump making an outrageous claim regarding how he handled Hurricane Maria last year—a claim that San Juan Mayor, Carmen Yulín Cruz, called "despicable."

Trump said:

I think that Puerto Rico was an incredible unsung success.

To which Colbert responded:

He's right. It was definitely unsung . . . maybe because no one could plug in their mics because it took eleven months to restore power.

And that's when Colbert burst into song.
