If you’ve been on the internet for any amount of time over the past week or so, chances are you’ve at least glimpsed the fast-moving relationship between Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson. In case you’re somehow out of the loop, the pair broke up with their respective significant others, started dating one another, branded themselves with matching tattoos, moved in together, and got engaged all in a matter of weeks.
Watching their Instagram accounts dissolve from singular personalities into pages dedicated to their love has been…overwhelming? Look, it’s fabulous that they’re in love and believe they’ve found their soul mates, but, you know, the world can’t overload on so much love in such a short period of time.
If you think we’re being cynical, do know that Seth Rogen has our back. After the all-too-adorable couple exchanged a series of “I love yous,” Rogen very simply stepped in with the thought that’s going through just about everybody’s minds.
While we think it’s funny, Davidson was less amused and fired back with a cringe-worthy response.
Now, people that are hardcore shipping Grande and Davidson won’t appreciate Rogen’s impatience with their cutesy back-and-forth, but we all have our breaking point. At some point, we need to stray away from the “aww” and watch something explode. It’s human nature.
That, and love has caused Davidson to say some truly ridiculous things.
On the other hand, maybe we shouldn’t be so disparaging when it comes to love. Who knows, maybe the two really have found that one person they’re meant to be with, in which case, all we can do is wish them happiness.
