Mom Gets Misspelled Tattoo Of Son's Name And Changes His Name To Match

By Jonna Ivin-Patton

Sometimes one has to think outside the box to solve a problem. That's what happened with a mom in Sweden when a tattoo artist misspelled her son's name.  Johanna Giselhäll Sandström sat down for a tattoo to ink her children's name, but was shocked when instead of getting Nova and Kevin she looked down and saw, "Kelvin".

No one wants to be the mom with your own child's name spelled wrong, forever inked on your skin. Not a good look at the PTA.

Sandström said this about the moment she realized the artist's mistake:

[My] heart stopped. I said I wanted the names of my children tattooed on me and I gave the artist their names. The artist drew the design and didn’t ask anything about the spelling, so I didn’t give it any more thought.

Note to anyone ever getting a tattoo, no matter how simple the word - ALWAYS check the spelling! TWICE!

Sandström at first considered tattoo removal as a fix, but after looking at the tattoo for a while and pondering the name Kelvin, she decided to keep the tattoo and simply change her son's name. Well, there's one way to solve the problem. Sandström said about the decision:

I had never heard the name ‘Kelvin’ before. There isn’t anyone who names their kid Kelvin. So, when I thought more about it, I realized that no one else has this name. It became unique. Now we think it is better than Kevin.
He wasn’t so old [at the time of the tattoo] so he didn’t think about it.
