On Tuesday, January 9, Robert De Niro took the stage at the National Board of Review Awards Gala to introduce his friend Meryl Streep, who was receiving an award for her role in Steven Spielberg's The Post. During his introductory speech, however, De Niro had someone else on his mind: President Donald Trump. In his signature, no-nonsense style, the Oscar-winning actor laid into the President with some pretty profane adjectives.
*Warning: profanity from Robert De Niro*
De Niro truly did not hold back:
The movie gave us glimpses of President Nixon as delusional, narcissistic, petty, vindictive, nasty and bats*** f***ing crazy. Ah, the good old days.
The audience offered enthusiastic applause during especially profane moments.
To be fair, De Niro isn't the first person to call Donald Trump an idiot.
De Niro has made a hobby of insulting the President. He told Deadline in August:
If he was smart, he’d be even more dangerous. He’s dangerous as it is.
