An article in The London Times titled "I'll tell you what's wrong with midlife sex - the telly" has left Twitter in stitches because of its meme-worthy tease.
The article by Carol Midgley blames a disappointing sex life on excessive TV watching. Both in the article and in the Twitter tease and link to the piece, the phrase "sweep the special chimney" appears, presumably, as a euphemism for the act of coitus itself.
We're not sure if this is a well-known metaphor for sex in the UK but, here in the U.S., it's rather odd and utterly hysterical.
Some people drew parallels between the phrase and a beloved movie character and her good friend Bert:
And, of course, it wouldn't be viral without the boyfriend meme making an appearance:
Along with other such nonsense...
But some people knew exactly what Midgley meant...
Oh well, it was all in good fun!
