There has been a lot of talk (and a lot of crushed feelings) since Avengers: Infinity War debuted in theaters a few months ago.
Spoilers ahead, so if you haven't seen the movie, this is your warning against reading ahead. But I mean, who hasn't seen the movie by now??
People went into a downward spiral of despair and hopelessness toward the end of the movie when almost all of the heroes died, as Thanos wiped out half of the universe's population. It was tragic. Scarlet Witch, Black Panther, and Spider-Man were amongst the fallen heroes, disintegrating and vanishing right before our eyes.
But according to a forum of more than 282,000, Thanos isn't to blame. In fact, this group is doing something to honor the cold-hearted villain.
Reddit forum "/r/thanosdidnothingwrong" is a place where people share memes, photos, and theories about the villain.
These fans were so inspired by the ending of the movie, that they are re-creating their own version: half of the population of the subreddit is going to be wiped from existence on July 9.
For him to be able to wipe out that many people, Thanos needed to collect all six of the Infinity Stones, and place them carefully in the Infinity Gauntlet. So, it comes at no surprise that moderators of the online forum have gone so far as to craft their own.
There were initial worries that members of the forum would be reprimanded for banning several thousand people from the group.
One user, Dragonphlegm, said the following in the forum:
"It would be the biggest mass ban in Reddit history and we'd probably get into some serious trouble"
But, turns out that isn't the case, as the ban was officially approved by administrators.
Since this tribute to Thanos has spread online, subscriber count in the group has been exploding.
But, on July 9, all of that will be over and done with.
I mean, at least in this version of events, the entire universe isn't at stake, and we're not all facing our ultimate doom and demise.
