Kellie Maloney, a former boxing promoter announced in 2014 that she would be transitioning medically from male to female. At the time, media was incredibly insensitive in covering transgender issues. For the most part things have gotten a tiny bit better, but this week the Daily Star took a major step backwards with its callus headline announcing Maloney had, "gone for the chop."
As a society, we don't expect much from tabloid journalism, but this time the paper has gone too far. Many in the LGBTQ community were quick to call the paper out.

It’s curious that the media is keen to paint trans people as some sort of fictional sexual threat when, in fact, our bodies, and particularly genitals, are publicly scrutinised without our consent. This sort of journalism is plain naff .
