Senator Tammy Duckworth Just Slammed President Trump, And She's Not Wrong

By Jonna Ivin-Patton

Senator Tammy Duckworth (D-IL), the retired U.S. Army Lieutenant who was deployed to Iraq in 2004, and lost both her legs when the helicopter she was co-piloting was hit by a rocket-propelled grenade, had some strong words for Donald Trump. The senator's remarks came after Trump and the GOP administered a government shutdown putting party politics over the needs of U.S. service members.

Trump started the war of words when he insisted that Democrats were responsible for “holding our Military hostage over their desire to have unchecked illegal immigration.”

Duckworth wasn't having it, and she clapped back in a spectacular smack-down:

I spent my entire adult life looking out for the well being, the training, the equipping of the troops for whom I was responsible. Sadly, this is something the current occupant of the Oval Office does not seem to care to do.  I will not be lectured about what our military needs by a five deferment draft dodger. And I have a message for Cadet Bone Spurs: If you cared about our military, you’d stop baiting Kim Jong-un into a war that could put 85,000 American troops and millions of innocent civilians in danger.
