Two men attacked and spit on a 71-year-old Sikh man from California as he was taking his morning walk.

A security camera from a nearby home recorded the attack, in which the two men approached Sahib Singh a little after 6 a.m. After briefly speaking with the men, who wore masks, Singh walked away, but they followed him, speaking once more before kicking Singh to the ground.

Singh got up and tried to fight back, but the men kicked him to the ground again. The attackers eventually walked away, but one of the men ran back to kick Singh three more times while he was still on the ground. The man then spit on Singh before he left.

A picture of Singh in the hospital later appeared on Facebook. Despite his injuries, Singh was smiling and seemed to be in good spirits.

Speaking to the Manteca Bulletin, local police said they were investigating the attack as a robbery but "are not ruling out the possibility of it being a hate crime."

Singh was the second Sikh attacked in California within the last week. The first was a 50-year-old man who was brutally beaten by two men who yelled racial slurs at him as they attacked him.

People expressed outrage and disgust at the attack.

And Twitter demanded swift and harsh justice for the attackers.

People couldn't believe this is happening in 2018.

Though many view the assault as another sign of the times.

Maybe it's time we make sure times change.
