Spirit Airlines flight 779 from New York to Fort Lauderdale was diverted to Myrtle Beach on Thursday evening when a mysterious odor spread throughout the cabin
The odor was reportedly similar to dirty socks. Passengers complained of burning throats, chest pains, vomiting — and one passenger even passed out.
As many as 10 passengers were hospitalized.
After an extensive search, the Myrtle Beach Fire Department declared the plane "all clear." The source of the odor remains unidentified.
Twitter is repulsed.
I can’t fathom the intensity for an entire plane to emergency land? 😭😭😭😭😭— blonde (@darkpinkdivine) July 30, 2018
Others noted that this airline seems to have recurring problems.
I remember when I worked for Spirit Airlines for two years. Looks like somethings never change. They always had issues— fxv (@fxvega2074) July 27, 2018
My wife and I flew Spirit to LV one time. We vowed that we will never fly them again. The planes are like a city bus. They pack you in on these Hard, tiny seats. You may get a cheap flight, but you have to pay extra for EVERYTHING. And its uncomfortable.— Arnold Eastman (@eastman_arnold) July 27, 2018
Sounds like an airline we may want to avoid.
