Porn star Stormy Daniels (whose real name is Stephanie Clifford) recently made headlines again, but it’s not for the reason you may think. Her attorney believes it to be connected to a much bigger picture.

In a statement released on Twitter, Stormy Daniels’ attorney, Michael Avenatti, revealed the controversial porn star was arrested in Columbus, Ohio in connection to her work at Sirens Gentlemen’s Club.

According to Avenatti, the arrest came after Daniels was reported “allegedly allowing a customer to touch her while on stage in a non-sexual manner.”

Avenatti then went on to describe the arrest as “a setup” and “politically motivated.”

Columbus police may have a different story to tell, however, as it’s alleged that Daniels’ and two additional employees were arrested in connection to a “long-term investigation into allegations of human trafficking, prostitution, and other vice related violations.”

Daniels’ attorney isn’t the only one suspect of the timing and cause. In response to the Columbus PD and Avenatti’s tweets, people have voiced their concerns over the incident.

One user questioned the police department on the alleged investigation into prostitution, bringing up a valid - and alarming - point that no additional arrests seem to have been made in connection with the investigation, which has been ongoing since last fall.

One Twitter user points to a few suspect facts that don’t add up.

The porn star is famously known for alleging that she had an affair with President Donald Trump. In October 2011, The Dirty reported on the scandal, which eventually erupted into claims of bribery and threats.

As Avenatti expected, CNN reports that the misdemeanor charges have been dropped
