Following Sweden's defeat by England in the World Cup Quarter Finals, some England football fans went to a London IKEA store to celebrate.
Check out the videos.
A group of #England fans celebrating the teams 2-nil win over Sweden were filmed jumping on furniture and throwing things around at an #Ikea store in London. Some found the England fans behavior amusing.
Others thought the fans' reaction was lacking class.
This is disgusting. England had a great win and it's just wrong for the fans to embarrass the team and country this way.— ⚾️Alison T🇨🇦 (@TramontinAlison) July 8, 2018
It’s one thing to be happy and celebrate but this is taking it too far— Joe REDV YNWA (@dragons2194) July 8, 2018
I see England fans invaded and trashed IKEA in Stratford, London, after beating Sweden yesterday, spoiling the sporting atmosphere. What goes through the imbecilic mind of a gammon?— Bee Positive & Stop Brexit (@BeaumontBee) July 8, 2018
Pricks the lot of them. Hope they get the punishnebt they deserve.— Jon Startin (@Jon_Startin) July 7, 2018
But IKEA decided to take the high road.
We are aware of a small group of fans celebrating the match result in one of our stores. Being both British and Swedish, we were on the edge of our seats during the game and we would like to say ‘grattis!’— IKEA UK (@IKEAUK) July 7, 2018
Check out what Twitter had to say about IKEA's reaction.
Trust IKEA to take a football joke into a marketing gig like a boss— Harshvardhan Singh (@harshvs1999) July 8, 2018
Well done, IKEA, for turning a punch into a handshake. Swedish teams are great sports.— Eric Dawson #FBPE (@DawsonEric) July 8, 2018
Well played indeed, IKEA. Well played.
