John Boyega, an English actor who portrays the character of Finn in the Star Wars films The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi took to Twitter to defend co-stars Kelly Marie Tran and Daisy Ridley from the toxic bro attacks they have been receiving from trolls on social media. The masochistic hate campaigns have forces Tran and Ridley to delete their Instagram accounts. We can only assume the goal here is these men wish for all films to only have male characters. Perhaps they wish for a world where women don't exist at all and they can spend their days swinging their lightsabers at their fellow bros.
In his tweet, Boyega addressed the issue saying:
If you don't like Star Wars or the characters, understand that there are decisions makers [sic] and harassing the actors/actresses will do nothing
If you don’t like Star Wars or the characters understand that there are decisions makers and harassing the actors/ actresses will do nothing. You’re not entitled to politeness when your approach is rude. Even if you paid for a ticket! 🤷🏾♂️— John Boyega (@JohnBoyega) June 12, 2018
He followed up that tweet with another saying:
To the majority of Star Wars fans thank you for supporting and putting yourselves in our shoes. You understand that there is a process so much appreciated!
At this point, Star Wars', Mark Hamill responded with a joke.
Fans weighed in on the exchange.
Every time there is a father/son interaction between you two it extends my lifespan by at least a day. Y’all are beyond cute. 💕— s a r a h 🦁 (@weddersins) June 12, 2018
I’m not even that big of a Star Wars fan and yet I’m here for this father son relationship. HEAVY— Young Wolf (@Godsfavorite13) June 13, 2018
Maybe this father/son duo can get the trolls to back off the" daughters".
