Taylor Saulters of the Athens-Clarke County Police Department was fired on June 2 after a dashcam video revealed he had lied about hitting a suspect with his car to make an arrest.
The suspect in question, 23-year-old Timmy Patmon, was taken to the hospital and treated for cuts and bruises. Officer Saulters was in pursuit of Patmon for felony parole violation.

Just because the suspect broke the law doesn't mean he deserves to be hit by a car— lions rebellion (@lions_rebellion) June 3, 2018
Patmon lay on the ground, obviously hurt from being hit by a car, and Saulters threatened to use a stun gun on him.
“Oh, I know, I know what I did. Why’d you run?” Saulters said. He later tried to tell fellow officers that striking the suspect with the car was unintentional.
“I didn’t hit him with the car, I blocked him with the car,” he said. “He ran into the hood of my car and bounced off.”
Being a police officer is a difficult job. I do believe in benefit of doubt when applicable, but when an officer acts this recklessly, they have to be held accountable. This was clearly a serious & dangerous misuse of force. He should be prosecuted, not just fired.— BartholomewVaderwitz (@barth_vaderwitz) June 4, 2018
As an Athens resident, I am proud of the swift action and transparency by the police chief. The officer was in the wrong and I hope he faces charges.— Christa Coulter-Scot (@WokeWhiteGirrrl) June 3, 2018
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation will investigate further and decide whether Saulters will be prosecuted.
“He ran into the hood of my car and bounced off?” I’m going to need you to re-analyze your life officer. You have disrespected the uniform and us all with that bold face lie. The uniform is not an excuse to act as you please.— hermlys antoine (@HermlysA) June 4, 2018
When a citizen can run down a cop like this and ONLY get fired. When will the domestic terrorists be held accountable? Fired is not enough.— Joe Blow (@ByAnyDream) June 4, 2018
