By now we've all heard about Roseanne Barr's racist tweet directed toward Valerie Jarrett (former senior advisor to Barack Obama). The tweet caused ABC to abruptly cancel the Roseanne reboot. Many people supported ABC's decision, but others brought up how Roseanne's actions didn't just affect her. The TV show's cancellation also cost many writers, actors and crew members their jobs.
But ABC just might have a solution for this. Rumor has it, ABC is considering a Roseanne spin-off, but this time centering around Darlene Conner, played by Emmy Award Nominee, Sara Gilbert. Gilbert's character was revealed in the latest season as being a single mother of two.
Some people like the new, potentially more liberal outlook of the show.
Sara Gilbert was doing truly spectacular work in that reboot. Call it DARLENE. Keep everyone else.— Andrew Briedis (@AndrewBriedis) May 29, 2018
But others think there is no "Roseanne" without Roseanne Barr.
Heard ABC might reboot Roseanne starring Sara Gilbert. Might as well cancel the show! A b-list actor attempting to fill the shoes of a A-list actor? Good luck with that... mightt get lucky and have three viewers watching.... what a sh*tshow.... 😂— TheRepublicanMillennial (@MillennialMAGA1) June 2, 2018
And exactly WHO will watch this without the star, Roseanne?— Lauren America 🎸 🇺🇸 🇬🇷🇵🇱 NRA (@Zippityd00dah) June 2, 2018
Not me, and not ANYONE I know.
To ABC: Stop being stupid fools. Give Roseanne her job back and lets go forward OR follow YOUR plan and watch ALL your ratings tank.
Your decision was outrageous.https://t.co/lf7LZiVkgQ
