Pop singer Britney Spears was honored Thursday night with the Vanguard Award at the GLAAD Media Awards for her work advocating for LGBTQ youth. Olympic skier Gus Kenworthy and his new bestie, Olympic skater Adam Rippon, were also in attendance.
Twitter could hardly contain its excitement over the three of them meeting for the first time.
Spears tweeted at the athletes during the recent winter games in South Korea, saying to Rippon:
Hey @Adaripp…. I just wanted let you know that I am a fan, I am not in denial, and that you are THE MOST FUN!! Keep making us all smile at the #WinterOlympics and good luck today.
She followed that tweet with a shoutout to Kenworthy, saying:
So proud of #TeamUSA!! Hey @guskenworthy, gimme, gimme more on the slopes today!! #ItsGusBitch 👍😉⛷
Rippon and Kenworthy immediately tweeted back:
I could feel you on the ice with me @britneyspears. I now have an OVERWHELMING desire to post Instagram fashion shows, google stock imagines of corn, and paint on the balcony of my dorm in the Olympic village. Thank you for not being in denial, LOVE YOU ❤️❤️❤️ https://t.co/CfeyGNecM3— Adam Rippon (@Adaripp) February 18, 2018
The love affair was on! But Twitter had to wait for the glorious day when all three would meet. That day is now.
Twitter was swooning!
I love how Adam’s face always says “That’s right, I’m here. Know why? Because this is where I belong.” 😂— Wilbie, Right Back (@glasses_0ff) April 13, 2018
