A good doctor goes above and beyond for the patients in their care. At Lurie Children's Hospital in Chicago, Dr. Phil Thrush made his patient, Austin Eggleston, a promise: when Austin finally received a heart from the transplant list, he would deliver the news in full costume as Chewbacca (the REAL star of the Star Wars franchise).
When the day finally came, Austin could hardly contain his excitement:
Months ago when Austin was listed for a heart transplant, Dr. Thrush said he would deliver the news a heart was available dressed as Chewbacca. On Saturday, Chewbacca stopped by Austin’s room. #donatelife #organdonor #all4your1— Lurie Children's (@LurieChildrens) March 19, 2018
Are you an organ donor? https://t.co/7h2m9wuZjT. pic.twitter.com/5ipWX1uWA0
Twitter loved everything about the video, including Austin's PG exclamation:
Awwwh 😢, May everything go well for this young boy and his new heart ♥️. My best wishes for him.— Jquintana99 🇲🇽 (@jquintana099) March 20, 2018
People threw Dr. Thrush some major kudos for going the extra mile!
This proves that being an organ donor can make a huge difference after you've passed:
And if this dream came true, why can't another?
