Mark Hamill Just Made An Appearance At The St. Patty's Day Parade In Dublin
1 month ago

Saint Patrick is thought to have been born in the latter half of the 5th Century. He was the Bishop of Ireland and is credited with bringing Christianity to the country. According to the stories surrounding the Saint, he was captured by Irish pirates as a slave when only 16 and soon after he was sent to Britain. When he gained his freedom, he returned to Ireland to preach the gospel. He is the literal patron saint of Ireland, and apparently American drunk people.

The date that Saint Patrick is thought to have died is March 17th, and thus, every March 17th, in Ireland, a parade is held, much like the ones in the United States... except they have a reason for it other than getting hammered. Like many parades, they have a guest of honor, and this Saturday, it was Mark Hamill of Star Wars fame!

Take a gander at him having the time of his life...

And here with the President of Ireland, Michael D. Higgins, and his wife, actress and activist Sabina Coyne...

Some couldn't resist a good Star Wars joke...

Others were all about Mark...

But mostly, people just gave their well wishes...

Happy Saint Patty's Day everyone!
