After the traumatic shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida on Feb. 14, students, teachers, and faculty participated in a national walkout protesting gun violence. The protest lasted 17 minutes to honor the 17 lives that were lost in the tragic shooting a month ago, and was meant to take a stand against guns in schools and gun violence. This monumental protest was documented with pictures and videos that show the massive force behind this cause.
The first protesters emerged at 10 A.M. on the East coast and shared their experience on social media to inspire change and let their voices be heard!
Videos of the protests were also shared on social media around the country. The videos included some forms of active protesting like laying down, singing, chanting, and reading the names of the 17 victims of the most recent shooting last month.
Major politicians added their force in the protest against gun violence today.
The protesters you see here are only a few out of hundreds across the country. Today's walkout and activism is major and will hopefully spark a change!
