It's no secret that singer Ariana Grande loves her fans and her fans certainly love her. You can imagine how often she is stopped for selfies by adoring fans who want a memento of meeting their favorite celeb.
Recently, however, Grande noticed a trend after scrolling through a bunch of those selfies posted to social media: her fans were posting the selfies but cropping themselves out, or covering their faces with an emoji.
Of course, there are many possible reasons fans might want to cut themselves out of pictures online. Some are very private, or maybe the day they met Grande was the same day they called in sick to work.
But the singer hopes the real reason isn't low self-esteem.
Taking to her Instagram, Grande had this to say after seeing so many blocked out faces:
I love meeting y’all out and about. It makes me so happy! But it makes me so sad when y’all don’t put your faces in the photos of put emojis over your faces or ask to not be in them!
You show me so much unconditional love all the time no matter what TF I look like. You deserve to show yourselves that same kindness. Please learn to give that to yourselves. You will get there are you deserve it and I love you the very same way!
The message from the Side by Side singer prompted a new hashtag: #SelfiesForAriana.
Ariana's brother Frankie got in on the lovefest too:
Go Ariana! Using celebrity to spread a positive message — what a lovely concept!
