Ever since the tragic shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida three weeks ago, a national discussion has raged about gun regulation. After a 19 year old perpetrator obtained an AR-15 rifle legally, and proceeded to kill 17 people in his rampage, now even gun rights advocates are calling for raising the minimum age for purchasing some weapons from 18 to 21.

But it's not only lawmakers who are changing their minds on the issue. In the wake of calls for boycotts of companies that support the NRA, national chains Walmart and Dick's Sporting Goods announced they would no longer sell certain guns to anyone under the age of 21.

Walmart Spokesman Randy Hargrove said in his announcement:

“In light of recent events, we reviewed our policy on firearm sales. As a result, we raised the age restriction for the purchase of firearms and ammunition to 21 years of age. We stand behind our decision and plan to defend it. While we haven’t seen the complaint, we will respond as appropriate with the court.”

But now a 20 year old is suing the two retailers, since state law technically allows him to purchase a rifle:

A debate raged on Twitter among people on both sides of the issue:

Some are questioning his inability to wait one more year until he becomes of age:

Some have resorted to name-calling:

People have also been questioning the legitimacy of "age discrimination" in his case. Some have compared it to a 20-year-old not being able to go to the bars and buy a round of drinks:

Others seem to think that if this whole case isn't already backed by the National Rifle Association (a.k.a. NRA), then the organization will certainly have no problem paying for his end of the lawsuit:
