Oprah likes to make other people happy.
When you're a jillionaire there's a whole bunch of ways that you can do exactly that, and in conversation with People she clued us in to a grown-up Easter Egg hunt for one comparably lucky hotel worker, spreading her tip to the housekeeping staff all over her hotel room.
“This made me so happy recently: People never leave money for the housekeepers in a hotel,” Winfrey says in the new issue. “I usually just leave money on the pillow, but this time I put it all over the room: under the desk, on the counter with the M&Ms, in the shower. As I was leaving, I was like, “Somebody is going to be happy today, yes!'"
Gratuities in hotel rooms are a particular kindness, folks, and Oprah does love her some kindness.
“Nothing makes me happier than to see other people in their purest moments of joy. Sometimes, honest to goodness, I’m just sitting around thinking, ‘What could I do to make somebody feel really good today?’ ” she says. “To be able to do that for somebody, that’s one of the great joys of my life.”
Even Oprah can't tip people in Pontiacs everywhere she goes, but extra cash for the working class is a class act.
Little kindnesses can have a big impact. But if you can give an audience cars, you should do that.
