If you are not a historian with a PhD in European Government, chances are you don't know the difference between Socialism, Marxism, Communism, Fascism, Dictatorships, Libertarian Marxism, Revolutionary Socialism, and all the other social/political movements. I certainly don't, and it seems InforWars' editor at large, Paul Joseph Watson, doesn't either.
Perhaps it's time for Americans to stay in there lane when it comes to European politics?
In a recent attempt to prove Adolf Hitler was a Socialist, Watson took to Twitter and posted a meme that allegedly quotes the leader of the Third Reich.
Hint:iIt didn't go well.
Hitler's "quote" reads:
We are socialists, we are enemies of today’s capitalistic economic system for the exploitation of the economically weak, with its unfair salaries, with its unseemly evaluation of a human being according to wealth and property, instead of responsibility and performance, and we are all determined to destroy this system under all conditions.
Pretty damning stuff, right? We all know the fastest way to break down anyone's thoughts or ideas is to compare them to Hitler. If you say your favorite color is purple and someone can prove Hitler's favorite color was purple, then you just lost the "What color should be paint the living room?" debate, you Nazi pig!
There was just one problem with Watson's attempt to shut down Socialists with the quote — it wasn't Hitler's. It came from Gregor Strasser and in 1934 Hitler had him assassinated.
Yes, Watson, awkward is right!
Maybe the lesson here is think before you meme, because it might come back and bite you on the ass.
