Leahman Glenn Robert Potter, a 48-year-old man from Pennsylvania, was charged with burglary, criminal trespass, and theft for stealing a pot of meatballs out of another man's garage. The victim reported the missing meatballs to the police after he saw Potter in front of his house with what appeared to be red sauce on his clothes and face. The pot that held the meatballs was found in the street.
Twitter users offered plenty of jokes and puns:
This is quite possibly the best news story I’ve ever red. What a meatball!— cantwaltz (@cantwaltz) February 28, 2018
But at least some people considered the "thief" may have been starving:
I sentence the man to having someone help him to have money to buy food.Job or Government assistance— Swiper18500 (@Marilyn42841697) February 28, 2018
I cannot believe he was arrested and charged— Cass (@its_cassc) February 28, 2018
Perhaps he was just hungry?
Was the garage door open? WHY are you cooking meatballs in a garage? Was he taunting his neighbour by doing it in there?
The big question on everyone's mind: "Who cooks meatballs in a garage?" The bigger question: "Who calls the cops?"
Questions:— Meridith (@meridithgr) February 28, 2018
1. Who makes meatballs in their garage?
2. Who actually reports it to the police that their garage meatballs have been stolen?
. Who would leave a pot of meatballs in a garage anyway and apparently with the door open if they were stolen. What were you thinking?— Shirley Fox (@sfox2119) February 28, 2018
The man was held on $25,000 bond. Considering he was eating stolen food, we doubt he'll make bail.
