When there's something strange in the neighborhood, you might not need to call anyone! Instead, using a new Pokémon GO-style augmented reality game, you may be able to pick up your phone and deal with the ghosts yourself. Sony Pictures Entertainment Consumer Products, Ghost Corps, and publisher FourThirtyThree Inc. have teamed up to release Ghostbusters World!
On Friday, Feburary 23, Sony released a trailer for the game.
Ghostbusters fans are pretty eager to put on their virtual proton packs:
I was talking to my missus about this concept last week. Bring it on!— Steve Fisher (@techbeachinc) February 23, 2018
Though a little bit unexpected, the game is most welcome:
Specters, poltergeists, full-roaming vapors, and more from your favorite Ghostbusters movies, TV shows, comics and video games are about to invade our world.
However, some fans are worried the new game will be too similar to Pokémon GO.
I hope it does not end up as nothing but a rip-off (a Pokemon Go with a Ghostbusters skin). It would be great to see them try something different and expand on the successful concepts already in place.— AstroLizard (@AstroLizard) February 23, 2018
Will Ghostbusters World be a fun, new game, or an unexciting Poké -knockoff? We'll have to pile into the Ecto-1 and find out!
