It is being reported by Variety, Golden Globe-winning actress, Jessica Chastain, is in discussions to possibly star as the adult character of Beverly Marsh in the IT sequel. The character was originally played by Sophia Lillis.
If the project goes through this will not be the first time Chastain has worked with director Andy Muschietti and his screenwriter-producer sister, Barbara. Chastain spoke glowingly about the talented siblings.
I love Andy and Barbara. I worked with them on Andy’s directorial debut, you know, his film ‘Mama’. His first film. And you know, Barbara is one of my best friends so… They’re like my family. Anything that they’re doing, I want to be a part of, so I hope we can make it.
We can totally buy that this girl...
... grew up to be this woman.
Fans are excited but not surprised.
I will remain optimistic that Jessica Chastain may be joining IT: CHAPTER 2 because she and director Andrés Muschietti worked together on MAMA, not because the Internet demanded it...— Scott Mendelson (@ScottMendelson) February 20, 2018
Sounds like actress Sophia Lillis' knew who she wanted.
Fans agree with Lillis and are excited about this casting choice.
J. Chastain seems to be a perfect match for Sophia Lillis grown-up alterego.— F.A. Dausend (@CM_entertains) February 21, 2018
Some fans of IT had different ideas. Actress Amy Adams was a favorite.
And Elizabeth Olsen.
