Singer Erykah Badu recently sat down with Vulture for an interview.
During the discussion, she covered a WIDE range of topics.
The segment of the interview which is grabbing the most attention, however, is a portion where Badu empathizes and attempts to "see the good in" Bill Cosby and Hitler.
The interviewer couldn't quite believe what he was hearing.
To be fair, some readers saw wisdom in Badu's answers.
Maybe its the Pisces in me, but I don't see the outrage about what Erykah Badu said. Next case! *bangs gavel*— Cersei St. Patrick (@jasminealyse) January 24, 2018
But whenever you find yourself defending Hitler, at best you're on shaky ground.
The Erykah Badu interview in Vulture is problematic to say the least. If you're going to operate without professional PR, you need to have enough discipline to resist volunteering any opinion on Hitler.— Clayton Rainey (@runningfool75) January 24, 2018
David Marchese, the interviewer, really digs in to find out what Badu meant by her statement.

One of our kind committed those evils and it's scary - but you disseminate evil by going within.— Latavia Jenkins (@nicoiseXsalad) January 24, 2018
But it definitely didn't come through very clearly.
Badu may not have considered the full consequences of her words.
Erykah Badu, when you say you can see good in Hitler, just remember something... in your mind, that might seem like a real smart and nuanced point. To Holocaust survivors and their ancestors, it’s a kick in the teeth and an unnecessarily offensive thing to say.— Joshua Zitser (@mrjoshz) January 24, 2018
Many readers simply checked out!
Erykah badu is in her own universe, whatever she says happens in that place.— crooked smile 🇬🇭 (@GeezyRunThis) January 24, 2018
When asked the question which prompted her thoughts on Hitler, perhaps theres another answer Badu should have given:
