'Flight Of The Conchords' May Be Getting A New HBO Special—And We're All About It

Jemaine Clement told Indiewire that a Flight of the Conchords special might be coming to HBO.

It should be fun…We’ve done some of it before, some of it will be new. Some of it we’ll be working on in the next few months.

The special would coincide with their upcoming U.K. stage tour, so "fun" is an understatement.

HBO has yet to confirm the return but Clement, who spoke on a Television Critics Association FX panel on Friday, let a few details slip about the proposed project. For one, the two characters have grown up in the decade since the show ended. Where other returning shows, such as Curb Your Enthusiasm, showed little change in their characters, Clement made it clear that would not be the case for this special.

We’ve grown up. We’re not the characters from the TV show, in real life we’re dads now and listen to different kinds of music. The trickiest thing about touring again is getting used to your instrument again. Usually, I take my guitar in the van on the way to work to get used to it.

It's been ten years, and fans of the show were SO. EXCITED.

News spread quickly:

And fans were ready:

Some tried to negotiate with HBO for an entire season:

Whether it's a special or a season, GIFs don't care:

HBO told The A.V. Club, “The deals are not fully in place. We’ll hopefully have news soon.” Indeed.
