Kiernan Shipka, who played Sally Draper on Mad Men, is set to star in her own show. Netflix is rebooting Sabrina the Teenage Witch with Shipka in the starring role. The show is a spinoff of the wildly popular Riverdale, and its creators describe it as quite a departure from the '90s hit staring Melissa Joan Hart. The Netflix adaptation is based of the much darker and creepier Archie Comics graphic novel, The Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina, which explores dark dark magic and the occult. And, of course, Sabrina will still need to get through high school.

Executive producer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa said Shipka is the perfect choice for the new Sabrina:

We’re all such huge fans of Kiernan’s work that when we started talking about who this new incarnation of Sabrina could be, her name was on everyone’s wish list. This is a darker, more macabre version of Sabrina, and we’re incredibly excited for people to see Kiernan make this iconic character her own.

Fans of both Shipka and the hit show can't wait:

Shipka tweeted her own excitement:

And Shipka appreciated Riverdale's Camila Mendes' welcome to the Archie Comics universe:

Sadly, we'll all have to wait. Until then we can all catch up on reruns of the original.
