A Couple Kicked Out Of An Uber Car For Kissing Just Shared Their Story
4 months ago

On New Year's Eve a Houston couple, Randall Magill and Jose Chavez, told Houston 2 News they were booted out of an Uber for kissing. They believe the reaction to a peck on the lips was because they are gay.

Magill told the local news organization:

I wasn't doing anything that I wouldn't have done in public. I’m not going to embarrass myself or my fiancé by any means ... I’ve never heard of anyone being asked to stop kissing anywhere, especially when you’re just peck on the lips.

Magill said the driver claimed he had also recently kicked a straight couple out for kissing.

Chavez went on to say:

He said, 'I can’t take you no more.' He was like, 'I’m going to have to drop you guys off,' and we said, 'That’s fine ... I was upset. I’ve never been told not to kiss or anything.

Naturally, people were incensed. One man blamed the current political climate:

While some felt the driver should suffer consequences:

And Marky wasn't the only one with lawsuits in mind:

Another felt the driver should have at least dropped them off in a safe location, rather than on the side of the highway as the couple alleges:

This is not the first incident with a gay couple and an Uber. Two others happened in the U.K. in August and September:

And yet another in San Francisco last July:

And one in London last March:

Looks like Uber needs to look into some sensitivity training.
