It's always painful when we lose someone we love and everyone deals with grief differently. Debra Parsons, a woman living in England, has taken the process of grieving to a whole new level. She plans on eating her mothers ashes with Christmas dinner.
“My mum and I had a really strong bond and one which could never be broken, even by death. She has been the one who has helped me through all the other ups and downs of my life and then suddenly she just wasn’t there any more. I was distraught.”
“I don’t know what made me do it the first time – it was just an urge. I can’t describe it. I opened the box and licked my fingers and just dipped them into the powder. Before I knew what I was doing they were in my mouth and the chalky, salty taste was comforting. I felt confused by what I had done to begin with but the feeling of comfort and closeness it brought was the first bit of solace I’d had since her death.”
Needless to say, people are having serious reactions to the idea of this woman eating her mother for Christmas.
This woman obviously needs some grievance counselling not for you to do a photo shoot of her problems. Absolutely disgraceful.— Piera Catalano (@piera_catalano) December 17, 2017
People joking around saying she’s going to shit her out, but if you read the article she’s so disturbed she thinks her mum will be able to live and breathe inside her. She needs bereavement help. Why is her fiancé going along with this?— Kate Williams (@GeliciousNail) December 17, 2017
For many people it was the end of the internet.
This woman is obviously in need of help but do you know what’s really sick - the way you’ve promoted the story and the way you photographed her to look like she’s about to eat the ashes - you’re a bunch of sick ‘journalists’ - be ashamed.— DBW (@dylanburywood) December 16, 2017
