Saoirse Ronan, star of Lady Bird hosted Saturday Night Live this past weekend and in one sketch had some fun at the expense of her home country. The actress is from Ireland but not everyone saw the humor in a sketch that featured Ronan and SNL cast member Cecily Strong as Irish flight attendants for Aer Lingus Airlines.
The airline didn't seem to mind so much. Right after the sketch aired, the official account for Aer Lingus sent out a very funny tweet managing to mock Donald Trump in the process.
“Just tried watching Saturday Night Live – unwatchable! Totally biased, not funny and the Ronan impersonation just can’t get any worse. Sad”

Ronan appeared on Irish talk show The Late Late Show to hopefully clear the air and set the record straight. During the show she said,
“I am not anti-Aer Lingus! Listen, I collect my points on Aer Lingus, that’s how often I fly Aer Lingus. I shop local and eat Tayto! It was so much fun and it was great to represent Ireland and great to have U2 on the show with me.”
Her fans seemed to accept her side of the story and move one.
Seriously people, can we not make a joke and laugh at ourselves? I didn’t find it offensive, slightly unfunny but definitely not offensive.— Niamh Burns (@Niamh_Burns) December 9, 2017
Love Saoirse Ronan. She's doing the country proud and a great role models for young actors. The Oscar nomination is nailed on. Win or lose she's 23 with two noms. Massive for any actress let alone an Irish one— Wayne Power (@PowerWayne) December 9, 2017
