The Museum of the Bible, a $500 million project that was in part created and funded by Steve Green, CEO of the family owned, conservative Christian chain Hobby Lobby, will open this week in Washington D.C.
In 2014 Hobby Lobby went to the U.S. Supreme Court to fight for exemption from covering the cost of birth control for its female employees under the Affordable Care Act. The Oklahoma based company was also ordered to pay a $3 million fine for importing smuggled artifacts out of Iraq. They also agreed to forfeit the artifacts. Green has stated that the stolen items were never meant for the museum.
Reporters and other influencers were allowed a preview. The Greens have invited House and Senate leaders to a gala fundraiser for the museum that will be held at the Trump International Hotel.
The museum opens to the public on November 17th, 2017.
The @MuseumofBible shows how the Bible far exceeds the standards of literary verification. Manuscripts and other ancient evidences are housed here. Hobby Lobby got caught smuggling Christian artifacts from Iraq...
...because they’re opening the Museum of the Bible in DC.
A 500 million dollar museum of the bible? What the Sam Hell? Our priorities are all fucked up.— Robert Rutherford (@RobertRExists) November 16, 2017
That is just what Christ asked us to do. Dump millions of dollars into garbage & let children starve. Thanks fake Christians for ruining almost everything.— Mechelle (@themechelle) November 16, 2017

Wouldn’t a better representation of the Bible be I don’t know like helping kids eat and have clean water?
I still can't believe no one wants to go to the museum of the Bible with me this month. You people are boring— Cynical Spunkferret (@namtien223) November 16, 2017
Dear American "Museum of the Bible": Based on prior knowledge about Hobby Lobby, I do not trust that your real purpose is not controlling women and electing Republicans.— Werner Twertzog (@WernerTwertzog) November 15, 2017
