Authorities ordered the killing of an 18-month-old Eurasian lynx that had been on the loose for almost two weeks. The lynx, named Lillith, escaped an enclosure she shared with four other lynx at the Borth Wild Animal Kingdom in Ceredigion, Wales, on October 29. When the cat was spotted under a caravan in a holiday park, the Ceredigion city council contracted a team of marksmen.
And the prize for let's kill it because we can goes to dumbass Ceredigion Council for destroying an escaped Lynx. An absolutely pathetic over-reaction, when you consider a man who approached a Lynx in a Kent to try to prise a rabbit from it's jaws only suffered a nasty scratch.— Gary Barker (@Barkercartoons) November 11, 2017
Ceredigion Council should be ashamed of themselfs murdering asshats shot the lynx that ecaped because it supposedly posed a threat to humans, Lynx are shy aninamals and avoide humans , so the council there are liers— Anthony Mcdonnell (@MrFluffy2) November 11, 2017
Unbelievably sad news that stupid politicians of the local Ceredigion council have killed a Eurasian Lynx that had escaped from a wildlife park in Wales. They spuriously claimed the killing was to protect the public. Lynx are in fact no danger to humans. https://t.co/eQTE72vkV1— Highland Titles (@highland_titles) November 11, 2017
Just heard about Lilleth the lynx who escaped from a zoo in Wales, and it both saddens and angers me that they decided to kill her! Just why?! She posed no serious threat to the public! Also tranquilizer darts exist!— Tom Young (@MrZeroGun) November 11, 2017
I couldn't agree more. No wild animal should be destroyed when a tranquilizer dart would do the job. In the case of the escaped Lynx, the owners should retrieve their animal. It posed no threat. There should be some guidelines drawn up to avoid a repeat in the future. :( https://t.co/j0wp4U7oXF— Pete Griffin (@birderpete) November 11, 2017
We in no way agreed to or participated in the shooting of our baby Lynx. We are truly devastated and outraged that this happened. They managed to locate and shoot her within 24 hours so why didn’t they do that at the very beginning and just tranquilize her. You do not get to shoot a cat for no reason. She was no threat to anyone. It should never have happened and we will fight them on it every step of the way.
