Lin-Manuel Miranda Announces That He Will Reprise His Lead Role In 'Hamilton'

Lin-Manuel Miranda has been tirelessly raising money for Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria devastated most of the island. On Tuesday, the Tony-winning creator of the Broadway smash hit Hamilton said he will be bringing the show to Puerto Rico for a three-week run in January 2019.

Miranda announced the decision on Twitter:

In an interview with CBS, Miranda talked about his decision to take the show to Puerto Rico:

We’re also going to be pricing hundreds of tickets that will only be $10, so that people on the island can enjoy the show.

Hamilton debuted in 2015 and went on to win 11 Tony Awards. Tickets at one time were as high as $850.

This is not the first artistic endeavor Miranda has created for the people of Puerto Rico. He also rallied celebrities Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony, Fat Joe, Gina Rodriguez, and Gloria Estefan to donate their talents for the song "Almost Like Praying," with proceeds going to help victims of the hurricane.

People couldn't wait to books their flights and catch Hamilton in Puerto Rico:
