Christmas Commercial Faces Loud Backlash For Including A Muslim Family

UK company Tesco is facing some backlash for it's minute-long holiday commercial this year. The commercial features snippets of various people gearing up to celebrate the holidays. Among the groups of families featured is a Muslim family, some members of which are wearing hijabs.

Tesco has chosen #EveryonesWelcome as their theme this year, but it seems not everyone is feeling it.

Someone went so far as to make a poll.

The company is standing by their choice, dismissing the backlash as "racist" and releasing the following through a spokesperson:

Everyone is welcome at Tesco this Christmas and we're proud to celebrate the many ways our customers come together over the festive season. Tesco will celebrate the many ways we come together at Christmas, and how food sits at the heart of it all.
