In the wake of sexual assault allegations pouring out of the entertainment industry and political circles, James Gunn, writer/director of the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, took to Twitter to set the record straight on sexual harassment and political parties.
I will say once again: Sexual predators know no political affiliation. If you believe the stories of Weinstein & Spacey, it is illogical not to believe the stories of Roy Moore & Bill O'Reilly. We are all in this together. Get 'em out of everywhere.— James Gunn (@JamesGunn) November 9, 2017
Of course, there is always one person who justifies not listening to women, screaming "proof in a court of law," all while knowing that many stories involving unwanted and inappropriate sexual contact often don't have proof.
2 The real news orgs are not just throwing stories out there; they’re making sure the stories are credible.— James Gunn (@JamesGunn) November 9, 2017
3 There are other stories written on other, mostly Hollywood figures but they don’t have enough credible evidence to put the story out there— James Gunn (@JamesGunn) November 9, 2017
4 So the next time someone asks “why isn’t the story on ‘so and so’ coming forward?” this is why. They don’t have quite enough to go on.— James Gunn (@JamesGunn) November 9, 2017
5 Despite the claims of “fake news”, news orgs like NYTimes & WaPo are always as careful as they can be making sure stories are true.— James Gunn (@JamesGunn) November 9, 2017
Thanking to speaking truth. Folks act as if it’s worse if one side or the other has a sexual predator. It should be = outrage on both sides— Felicia (@Felicious1908) November 9, 2017
I’m especially speechless rn at the willingness to vilify Ed Westwick’s alleged victims. Seems like the second it’s a “young and attractive” actor who’s accused of rape and assault, it’s ok to cry “all lies” about the victim’s accounts.— Yvonne (@TheTrueCalliope) November 9, 2017
