Authorities have confirmed that Bruce Paddock, brother of Las Vegas terrorist Steve Paddock, was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of possessing child pornography. Paddock was arrested in Los Angeles near a nursing home facility after police found evidence inside a business where the 58-year-old had been squatting. Paddock had recently been evicted and was homeless. The arrest was the result of a joint effort between the LAPD, the FBI, Homeland Security Investigations, and the Child Exploitation Investigations Group.
Paddock is not considered a suspect in the October shooting committed by his brother Stephen, which killed 58 people and injured hundreds. Authorities emphasized that they had been investigating Bruce Paddock months before the shooting in Vegas.
Eric, a third Paddock brother who lives in Florida told the Washington Post that Bruce and Steve were mostly estranged since Bruce use to beat Steve when they were children. Both were also estranged from their older brother Patrick. Their father, Benjamin Paddock, was a bank robber who was once listed on the FBI's 10 Most Wanted list.
In early October, after obtaining court records, TMZ reported on Bruce Paddock's criminal history, including arrests for arson and robbery. Police released Paddock's mugshot "in case there may be victims of unreported incidents."
Investigators claim to have found Paddock in possession of over 600 images of child pornography. He has been charged with one count of possession of child pornography, 19 counts of sexual exploitation of a child and is being held on $60,000 bail.
