A couple of NASCAR team owners gave their drivers a stern warning: Take the knee during the National Anthem or risk being fired. Team owner Richard Petty had this to say:
"Anybody that won't stand up for the anthem ought to be out of the country. Period."
Another owner, Richard Childress, expressed similar sentiments, saying that any driver not standing for the Anthem will get a ride on a bus. Both NASCAR CEO Brian France and Petty endorsed Trump in the 2016 election.
So proud of NASCAR and its supporters and fans. They won't put up with disrespecting our Country or our Flag - they said it loud and clear!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) September 25, 2017

So the question has to be asked: With all this patriotism for the American flag and National Anthem in NASCAR, why are there so many Confederate flags flying? Aren't those two things diametrically opposed considering they were symbols fighting on opposite sides of the Civil War?
Okay, fuck it. No flags. Just wear something with "USA" on it. We gotta let people know we support America.— Shane Morris (@IamShaneMorris) September 26, 2017
See, right there, if you look closely, there's an American flag. See it? Boom! AMERICA.— Shane Morris (@IamShaneMorris) September 26, 2017
Okay, well lets at least maintain a ratio. We're gonna have Confederate flags, but we'll also have MORE American flags, okay?— Shane Morris (@IamShaneMorris) September 26, 2017

What about if I bring a rebel flag, but I don't fly it. I just have it?— Shane Morris (@IamShaneMorris) September 26, 2017
