Megyn Kelly Asked Jane Fonda About Her Plastic Surgery--It Wasn't A Good Idea

Megyn Kelly's first week on NBC's Today Show hasn't exactly been a screaming success. Guests have been fielding some... awkward questions. So when Jane Fonda and Robert Redford joined Kelly to talk about their new movie, Our Souls at Night, you'd think Kelly would have done her homework.

Kelly must have prepared to interview two icons like Fonda and Redford, right? Nope.

Kelly starts by asking Redford about his beloved role as Hubble in the classic film The Way We Were. Next, she turns her attention to Fonda, a New York Times best-selling author, political activist, two-time Academy Award winner, two-time BAFTA winner, the recipient of the AFI Lifetime Achievement Award, and a woman who built a fitness empire back when women were wearing leotards and leg warmers.

With all of this to Fonda's credit, what did Kelly ask her about? Plastic surgery.

Twitter users couldn't roll their eyes hard enough:

It just kept getting worse:

Later, Fonda talked to ET Canada about the interview:

Given the fact that we don’t have a lot of time and Bob is right here, it’s a weird thing to bring up, whether I’ve had plastic surgery or not. I have and I’ve talked about it. Seemed like the wrong time and place to ask that question.

Step up your game, Megyn. You're playing with the big dogs now.
