Australia has fallen behind Western countries when it comes to marriage equality, but there is still hope. Aussies are conducting a postal survey, set to run through October, that will allow citizens to vote on same sex marriage.
Numerous celebrities from down under have spoken out in favor of marriage equality, including Hunger Games' Ian Liam Hemsworth, his brother Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Portia de Rossi, who has been married to American comedian Ellen DeGeneres for nine years, Nicole Kidman, and Bindi Irwin.
Hugh Jackman, famous for his many films, including Les Misérables, Kate and Leopold and The X-men franchise, took to Twitter to show his support and to urge others to vote yes. Jackman has been married to Deborra-lee Furness, an actress and producer, since 1996.
