Jeb Hensarling, a Texas Republican Congressman, said that the U.S. government can't keep paying to repair flooded homes that continue to be damaged in the wake of natural disasters.

In a statement during an appearance on CNBC’s Squawk Box, Hensarling suggested that the “federal government is encouraging and subsidizing people to live in harm’s way.”

The chairman of the House Financial Services Committee added that  “At some point, God is telling you to move,” citing the case of a Baton Rouge property that received $500,000 in public money after it flooded 40 times. His statement did not sit well will the masses.

People decided to give Hensarling a dose of reality.

Some people opted to give Hensarling the benefit of the doubt.

Hensarling makes a point worth addressing, but his delivery leaves much to be desired.
