Trendy Shrimp is a mall restaurant in the Zhejiang province of China. The small eatery has found itself in some hot water over a poster and promotion. One local has called the promotion "vulgar" while people who see it online have had mixed responses.
The poster, which was placed just outside of the restaurant (which, again, is located inside of a mall) calls for women to eat there and receive a discount based on how large their breasts are.
The chart shows discounts ranging from about 5% off for women with an A cup, all the way up to 65% off for women who wear a G cup. The headline at the top reads boldly "The whole city is looking for BREASTS"
The restaurant's manager, Lan Shenggang, says that the poster was removed after only a few days following public backlash - but defends the promotion. He told the BBC that once the promotion started, customer numbers increased.
He also told the BBC that some of the women who came in during the promotion were quite proud of their bust size.
Let's try it. How many men would line up in order to subject themselves to public scrutiny and degradation? 🤔— Kim Dotca (@KimbahleyE) August 9, 2017
Not everyone was bothered, though. Some people saw it as a playful bit of marketing that they might just take advantage of.
That is degrading, shameful, and disrespectful. What's the address and when are they open?— DanJustDan (@ShotoDan2016) August 8, 2017
China, unlike the handwringing West, do what they like & fuk you if it offends.— I.M. Seethin (@MSeethin) August 8, 2017
